With ongoing support from Oxford University Press, The Reading Agency, Parents and Teachers, the future of 500 Words is bright, and we look forward to setting a new theme for the competition in 2021. We are excited to continue to provide a creative platform to hear children’s voices.

Dates for your diary All entries must be received by Thursday 27th February at 8pm. This year’s 500 Words Final will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 2, on The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show, on Friday 12th June.

Is the 500 Words competition Cancelled?
The 2020 500 Words final will be on the 12th June 2020. This will now be a virtual final and will not be at Buckingham Palace as previously planned.
