What is BWD ignition coil?

The ignition coil converts a low voltage current to high voltage energy that is delivered to the spark plug to ignite the air/fuel mixture within the cylinder. BWD and Intermotor Coil-on-Plug assemblies are engineered and tested to meet or exceed OE standards for spark energy, impedance, and durability.

Are ignition coils specific?

Automotive Ignition Coils Come In A Wide Range Of Shapes, Sizes And Applications. The distinct differences between coil designs make identification of optional coils relatively simple for both the parts specialist and the technician.

Who makes BWD?

Standard Motor Products
Standard Motor Products has announced the launch of its new BWD website: bwdbrand.com. The revamped design features a dynamic homepage with a scrolling news filter and multi-tiered dropdown menu that gives BWD customers loads of information and content — all in one place.

What should a coil pack read?

The ohmmeter should read between 6,000 to 30,000 ohms. If the readings are above 30,000 ohms or below 6,000 ohms, replace the coil pack. Reinstall the coil pack into the engine bay and reconnect all the electrical connectors.

Do diesels have ignition coils?

If you’ve noticed any or all of these symptoms, you may have a failing ignition coil or coil pack. Diesel engines do not need an ignition system, since they rely on compression to ignite the air/fuel mixture. Modern cars may use one ignition coil for each cylinder or pair of cylinders, and do not require a distributor.

Can I use a different ignition coil?

In simple terms coils are rated by their primary resistance—less resistance in the primary windings of the coil allows more current to flow, which makes a stronger magnetic field. These coils can be used on virtually any inductive (non-capacitive discharge) ignition system.

Why choose BWD ignition coils?

As the aftermarket leaders in ignition coils, BWD offers full line coverage for all makes and models, with the trusted quality and performance that only comes with more than 97 years of experience.

Where are coil-on-plug ignition assemblies made?

BWD ® Coil-on-Plug assemblies are engineered and tested to meet or exceed OE standards for spark energy, impedance, and durability. BWD engineers and manufactures high-quality ignition components at SMP’s 60,000 sq. ft. facility in Bialystok, Poland.

What is the difference between OE and BWD?

The BWD ® coils match or exceed the OE coils in all categories and are an excellent replacement exceeding the OE performance. As engine technology evolves, coil-on-plug technology will continue to play an increasingly important part of ignition systems. One such technology is the pencil coil.

How many diesel parts does BWD offer?

Today, BWD® Diesel offers thousands of diesel parts across hundreds of unique diesel categories for popular applications including medium-duty trucks. Do you have an idea for a part that we should offer?
