Snipping the resistor on the RE57 (edit: actually a RE55) sent my charging voltage to a tad over 15V during a long country run. Certain eventual death to battery kind. I have a voltage gauge which was calibrated against a Fluke at the battery terminals so reasonably confident about the number.
