The State offers one Medigap Policy called The Tennessee Plan. It is the same as the standard Medigap Policy Plan D. Retirees and/or dependents must be age 65 or over and eligible for Medicare in order to participate.

How does the Tennessee Plan Work?
The Tennessee Plan is a supplemental medical insurance program designed to cover certain expenses not fully paid by your Medicare Part A and B coverage. The Tennessee Plan will NOT coordinate or pay any benefits if you are also enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan.

Is UHC UMR Medicare?
UnitedHealthcare health plans are offered by United Healthcare Insurance Company and our affiliates. We (and other private insurance companies) work with federal and state agencies to provide government-sponsored health insurance. We are not part of Medicare.
Does UMR pay Medicare deductible?
The deductible applies once each benefit period, as defined by Medicare. The deductible is covered by The Tennessee Plan. Coinsurance amount that applies to inpatient hospital services after the 60th day and before the 91st day.
Can you have TennCare and Medicare?

Who is eligible for Medicare in TN?
Anyone who is age 65 or older is eligible for Medicare in Tennessee. Unlike some private health insurance plans, pre-existing conditions will not change your eligibility. You can and should enroll starting three months before your 65th birthday.
