How did you feel after LEEP?
The LEEP procedure side effects are usually mild. During the procedure, you may feel a little discomfort or cramping. Because numbing medicines are used, though, a lot of people don’t feel anything. After LEEP, you may have mild cramping for a day or so.

Rest for the rest of the day after your procedure. You can go back to work or school 1 or 2 days after your procedure. Take acetaminophen (Tylenol®) or ibuprofen (Advil®, Motrin®) if you have any discomfort. You can shower as usual, but don’t take a bath until your doctor says it’s okay.

Do I Really need A LEEP procedure?
If you have pelvic inflammatory disease or acute cervix inflammation, your doctor may advise against a LEEP. A cone biopsy, which is done surgically, might be a better choice for you. Some doctors will recommend a laser procedure or cryotherapy, in which the area of concern is frozen, and subsequently dies and sloughs off.
How effective is LEEP surgery?
LEEP is extremely effective, with a 90% success rate; however, there are cases in which the procedure has to be repeated.
